My Auntie Kay gave me this brooch when I was a baby. There is a photo somewhere of me wearing this brooch clipped onto a yellow knitted dress that I will have to dig up and add to this post. My name was hand engraved onto it. It’s only after learning engraving in jewellery design school that I could really appreciate hand engraving. The engraving on it is not perfect, only a machine can produce completely perfect. Jewellery that is made by hand is beautifully imperfect. In a world filled with masses of machine made jewellery, these hand made pieces are becoming rare and precious.
